USS North Carolina ACR-12

USS North Carolina ACR-12 was a Tennesee class armoured cruiser built for the US navy during the midd 1900’s (as in 1905). She was laid down in late March 1905 and launched a year later in October 1906, she was then commissioned into the US navy in May 1908. During her career she would transport the American Presiden William Howard Taft on an inspection tour of the panama canal, and later would take part in operations in the Mediterranean including treating victims of the Armenian genocide conducted by the Ottoman empire. When ww1 kicked off she would transport Americans back from this region to safety, however it wouldn’t be until later that America would enter the war and as such North carolina would see no major action, however she would become one of the first vessels to launch an aircraft using a steam catapult. She was renamed Charlotte in 1920 and then in 1930 she was sold for scrap.
