The Type VII D U-boat was a vessel designed and built for the German navy during World War 2, and were constructed in the Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft in Kiel.There purpose was to lay mines and hunt convoys with some of them seeing minor victories during the battle of Atlantic. Only half a dozen were ordered and all but U-218 were sunk during the war. U-218 was instead sunk during Operation Deadlight in December 1945,
