SMS Seydlitz was a battlecruiser for the Imperial German Navy and a major participant in the battle of Jutland during ww1.Laid down in February 1911 and launched in March 1912, then comissioned in May 1913 as a sole ship of her class. During ww1 the ship had a very active career first participating in the battle of Heligoland Blight and bombarding numerous British coastal towns before the battle of Doggerland Bank,during which the German battlecruisers enguaged the British Battlecruisers in a retreating enguagement, eventually losing the Armoured Cruiser Blucher and also recieving a near fatal blow from HMS Tiger striking forecastle barbette, but failing to penetrate and causing a flash fire and detonating the propellent and causing a significant fire to spread between both turrets. Her final battle would be Jutland during which Seydlitz both delivered and recieved a pounding, almost resulting in her loss. At the end of ww1 she made her way to scapa flow where she was scuttled by the Germans in June 1919.
